How Siemens Fire Alarm Manufacturers Can Help Printing Enterprises Reduce Fire Risks
In fact, not only the printing industry, but also any industry and anyone must raise their awareness of fire prevention. They must understand that fire and water are ruthless, and once a fire occurs, the consequences are unimaginable. The Siemens fire alarm system manufacturer stated that everyone is responsible for their personal safety and family, and whether it is summer or winter, the printing factory cannot slack off at any time.
Enterprise fire accidents have the following characteristics:
1. There are many explosive fires. Explosions causing fires or explosions during fires are prominent characteristics of some production enterprises (such as petroleum, chemical, and mining enterprises). The raw materials, intermediate products, and final products used in the production of these enterprises mostly have flammable and explosive conditions. An explosion can occur and lead to a fire, which in turn can cause an explosion.
2. Large area flowing fire. Combustible and flammable liquids have good flow characteristics. When they leak from the equipment, they will flow everywhere. If they encounter an open flame, it is extremely easy to cause fire accidents.
3. There are many three-dimensional fires. Due to the flow and diffusion of flammable and explosive substances within the production enterprise, the three-dimensional arrangement of production equipment, and the interconnectivity of enterprise buildings, once the initial fire control is poor, it will cause the fire to rapidly expand up, down, left, and right, forming a three-dimensional fire.
There are three conditions for a fire to occur:
1. There are flammable substances. Regardless of solid, liquid, or gas, any substance that can react violently with oxygen or other oxidants in the air can be called a combustible substance. Such as carbon, hydrogen, sulfur, potassium, wood, paper, gasoline, alcohol, acetylene, acetone, benzene, etc.
2. There are oxidants, commonly known as combustion aids. Such as air, oxygen, chlorine, potassium chlorate, and potassium permanganate.
3. There is an ignition source. Energy that can cause the combustion of combustible materials. Such as bright flames, fireworks, electric (gas) welding sparks, hot objects, self ignition heating materials, etc.
So as long as the above three conditions are not met, fire accidents can be prevented.
After an accident occurs, if measures to limit the development of the fire have been taken, the fire will be controlled, and casualties and economic losses will be reduced. So how can enterprises reduce the risk of fire? Fire is one of the main risks associated with property, and currently, enterprise property insurance mainly covers direct losses caused by fire, other natural disasters, and accidents. Enterprises can transfer the risk of fire and reduce their losses by purchasing property insurance.
Of course, relying solely on insurance is far from enough. It also requires the full support of enterprises. In addition to transferring fire risks through insurance, enterprises can also take corresponding fire prevention measures to reduce fire risks, mainly including:
1. Flammable and explosive places such as oil depots, gas cylinder stations, gas stations, and boiler rooms are strictly prohibited from smoking and entering factories without permission.
2. In factories with a high risk of fire and explosion, open flames and welding and cutting operations should be avoided as much as possible. It is best to dismantle the maintenance equipment or pipe sections to a safe location for maintenance. When on-site maintenance is necessary, it must be carried out in accordance with the relevant regulations on hot work, and if necessary, the fire brigade should be invited for on-site supervision.
3. When conducting hot work near pipes, sewers, deep pits, dead corners, etc. where flammable gases or vapors have accumulated, it is necessary to handle and inspect them, and only when it is confirmed that there is no fire hazard, can the hot work be carried out according to regulations.
4. To stick to one's position and prevent eye fire and boiling pot leakage. At the same time, the refining equipment must be set up in a safe location for operation and have a dedicated person on duty.
5. Fire and explosion hazardous areas should prohibit the use of open flames to bake frozen pipeline equipment, and steam and hot water should be used to thaw and unblock.
6. For substances that react in mixed contact and cause spontaneous combustion, mixed storage and transportation are strictly prohibited. For substances that absorb water and are prone to spontaneous combustion or natural heating, the storage environment should be kept dry. For substances that are prone to severe oxidation and heat release in the air, they should be stored in a closed container or immersed in corresponding neutral liquids (such as water, kerosene, etc.) to avoid contact with the air.
7. Explosion proof electrical equipment must be used in flammable and explosive places, and maintenance work for electrical equipment should also be done well.
8. Operators in flammable and explosive areas must wear anti-static clothing, shoes, and hats. It is strictly prohibited to enter with spiked shoes or synthetic fiber clothing. During operation, iron tools should be strictly prevented from hitting the ground.
9. For places with fire and explosion hazards caused by static sparks, increasing environmental humidity can effectively reduce the harm of static electricity.
10. The storage of combustible materials must maintain sufficient fire separation distance from the surface of high-temperature instruments and equipment, and combustible materials should not be stacked near high-temperature surfaces.
11. High heat materials such as slag and furnace slag should be safely disposed of to prevent them from falling into combustible materials.
12. One should master the usage methods of various fire extinguishing equipment. Fire caused by alkali metals, metal carbides, and oxides cannot be extinguished with water, as these substances undergo violent chemical reactions when exposed to water, producing a large amount of combustible gases and releasing a large amount of heat, further exacerbating the fire.
13. Electrical fires cannot be extinguished with water because water can conduct electricity and is prone to electric shock accidents; Oil fires that are lighter than water cannot be extinguished with water, as oil floating on the water surface can easily spread the fire.
14. If a fire occurs due to a steel water leak, it cannot be extinguished with water, as high-temperature metal liquids can explode when exposed to water.
Fire prevention and insurance are unified and complementary, and the work of fire risk prevention and transfer is more important. If we remain passive in reducing fire losses in the past, it will inevitably lead to more fire losses, seriously affecting the production and operation of enterprises. Only through close cooperation between fire and fire protection can we reduce fire losses for enterprises.
