What conditions should be met for the scrapping of fire detection and alarm products in fire alarm systems
Any product has its own service life, and fire alarm systems and fire detection alarm products are no exception. As a product that protects the safety of life and property, if it exceeds its service life, its effective performance will not be guaranteed. Therefore, when the fire alarm system fire detection alarm product reaches its service life, it should generally be scrapped. So, what conditions should be met for product scrapping? What should be done when scrapping?
1. Scrap conditions
(1) The service life of fire detection and alarm products in fire alarm systems generally does not exceed 12 years, and the service life of gas sensitive components in combustible gas detectors and laser components in fiber optic products does not exceed 5 years. Production enterprises should clearly specify the expected service life of the product in the product manual.
(2) When the product reaches its service life, it should generally be scrapped. If it continues to be used, all products that have reached their service life should be tested annually in accordance with the maintenance and testing requirements of this standard and the requirements for access re inspection, and system performance testing should be conducted. All test results should be qualified. Fire detectors in the system should be sampled annually and subjected to the following tests. Only after passing the tests can they continue to be used:
a) Four smoke detectors shall be selected and subjected to SH1 and SH2 fire sensitivity tests in accordance with GB4715;
b) Four point type temperature fire detectors are selected and subjected to response time and operating temperature tests in accordance with GB4716;
c) Two cable type linear temperature fire detectors shall be selected and subjected to action performance tests in accordance with GB16280;
d) Two linear fiber optic temperature fire detectors shall be selected and subjected to action performance tests in accordance with GB/T21197;
e) Four point type infrared flame detectors and image type fire detectors were selected and subjected to fire sensitivity testing in accordance with GB15631.
(3) When the product has not reached its service life but meets the following conditions, it should be scrapped:
a) The product cannot function properly and cannot be repaired;
b) Smoke type fire detectors cannot be calibrated within the response threshold range specified by the production enterprise, and do not respond before the end of the SH1 and SH2 test fires specified in GB4715;
c) The temperature sensitive fire detector does not respond when the ambient temperature reaches the upper limit of the response time or action temperature specified in GB4716 for this type of detector;
d) The fire sensitivity of point type infrared flame detectors and image type fire detectors does not meet the requirements of GB15631.
2. Scrap disposal
(1) The disposal of products can be found in the State Council's Order No. 551 on the Management of Recycling and Disposal of Waste Electrical and Electronic Products. The product usage or management unit should establish and maintain a product scrap handling procedure, and keep records of scrap handling.
(2) Ionic smoke fire detectors should be scrapped in accordance with GBZ122 requirements. Units and individuals are not allowed to dispose of ion type smoke and fire detectors arbitrarily. Scrapped ion type smoke and fire detectors should be returned to product manufacturers, importers, or their commissioned recycling units through procurement channels. After the ion smoke fire detector is recycled, the discarded radioactive sources should be collected in a dedicated radioactive waste container and then sent to the designated waste warehouse (site) for storage or disposal. Radioactive waste containers and their temporary storage areas should have ionizing radiation warning signs.
(3) The scrapping of batteries should comply with relevant national regulations.
