Principles for setting up common water fire extinguishing systems
一、 The rain shower automatic sprinkler fire extinguishing system is suitable for certain severely hazardous areas with intense combustion and rapid spread.
According to Article 8.3.7 of the Code for Fire Protection Design of Buildings (GB50016-2014), automatic sprinkler systems should be installed in the following places:
1. The potassium chlorate crushing plant of the match factory, with a building area greater than 100 square meters and producing or using nitrocellulose, spray paint cotton, fire glue cotton, celluloid film, and nitrocellulose fibers;
2. The inspection areas for rolling, slicing, grinding, and dividing balls in the table tennis factory;
3. Warehouse for nitrocellulose, spray paint cotton, fire glue cotton, celluloid film, and nitrocellulose with a building area greater than 60 square meters or a storage capacity greater than 2 tons;
4. The filling room and actual bottle warehouse of liquefied petroleum gas storage and distribution stations with a daily bottling quantity greater than 3000 bottles;
5. The lower part of the stage grape trellis in special and first-class theaters, other level theaters with more than 1500 seats, and auditoriums or auditoriums with more than 2000 seats;
6. A studio with a building area of no less than 400 square meters and a movie studio with a building area of no less than 500 square meters.
The question that people often ask is: What are the differences and applicable locations between rain shower, wet, dry, and pre action systems? Here is a brief description:
The rain shower system uses an open nozzle, while the rest use a closed nozzle. When the rain shower system is activated, all nozzles will be activated after the rain shower valve is opened. It is used in areas where fire is spreading rapidly or where the height exceeds the protection of the closed nozzle. For example, a stage or a studio.
二. Wet systems are the most common, and attention should be paid to temperatures between 4-70 degrees Celsius in usage areas, as well as places with low requirements for water stains.
3. Dry systems can be used in general places, and can be used in places with temperatures below 4 degrees or above 70 degrees. Such as a freezer or a processing workshop. The fire extinguishing system has a time lag.
4. The pre action system is based on the dry system and interlocked with the fire detection system. After the detector is activated, the dry system is converted into a wet system.
2、 The water curtain system is mainly used for fire isolation and cannot directly extinguish fires.
According to Article 8.3.6 of the Code for Fire Protection Design of Buildings GB50016-2014, water curtain systems should be installed in the following areas:
1. The stage entrances of special and first-class theaters, other levels of theaters with more than 1500 seats, halls or auditoriums with more than 2000 seats, and theaters or auditoriums with more than 800 seats in high-rise civil buildings, as well as the side platforms and backstage openings connected to the stage in the aforementioned places;
2. Local openings that cannot be set up due to the need for fire barriers such as firewalls;
3. The upper part of the fireproof rolling shutter or fireproof curtain that requires protective cooling.
Note: The stage entrance can also be separated by fire curtains, and smaller openings on the side platforms and backstage should be equipped with Class B fire doors and windows.
3、 The water spray fire extinguishing system is used to atomize water and is generally used for extinguishing transformer fires.
Article 8.3.8 of Code for Design of Building Fire Protection and Prevention GB50016-2014 stipulates that the following places shall be equipped with automatic sprinkler systems, and water spray fire extinguishing systems should be used:
Oil immersed transformers for factories and mining enterprises with a single capacity of 40MV · A or above, oil immersed transformers for power plants with a single capacity of 90MV · A or above, and independent substation oil immersed transformers with a single capacity of 125MV · A or above;
The testing site of the aircraft engine test bench;
High voltage capacitors and multi oil switch rooms that can be filled with fuel and installed in high-rise civil buildings.
Note: Oil immersed transformers, fuel filled high-voltage capacitors, and multi oil switch rooms installed indoors can use a fine water mist fire extinguishing system.
